The purpose of Southern Asia Christian College, ever since its earliest days as the Rural Training Institute back in 1953, has been to train the local leadership of Christ’s church. The college is training the future preachers and leaders of our churches. 7 years of work since the affiliation to the Bachelor of Divinity in 2009 by the Senate of Serampore University has established Southern Asia Christian College as a leading college in theological and practical training for ministry. The hiring of faculty into the new building in 2010 and the beginning of classes was a great milestone!
The first Graduation for Southern Asia Christian College was held in March, 2015 to the joy of all involved. This was the first graduation with our new Bachelor of Divinity curriculum, which is a combined B.A. and M.A. in Theology. Now “the pipeline” is filling and the College can look forward to larger groups of graduates every year as we look to the future. Our campus has over 40,000 sq feet of buildings and can house 50 male graduate students and 50 women graduate students and all the faculty.
2016 will see a new milestone reached: purpose built faculty housing with its own garden in a cluster of buildings for faculty families. This paves the way for married faculty to live in excellent housing, in the greenery and peacefulness of the campus. The intention to to house core faculty in the best environment possible for raising their families and theological reflection as they train the leadership for generations ahead.
